Grief Counselling
in Bengaluru

Compassionate support through Yoga-Based Grief Therapy for loss, life transitions and emotional healing.

If you’re searching for grief counselling in Bengaluru, you may be carrying more than words can easily explain — the loss of someone you love, a relationship that ended, a diagnosis that changed everything or a life transition that left you feeling unmoored. Whatever brought you here, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Bengaluru’s fast pace and transient, career-driven culture can make grief especially isolating. Many clients here have relocated from other cities or countries for work, which means the extended family and community support that traditionally carries people through loss often isn’t close at hand. Long hours and the pressure of a demanding career can also make it hard to find the time or space to properly process what happened. Online sessions are built for exactly this — support that fits around a Bengaluru work schedule, without needing to be physically present anywhere.

At Grief & Beyond, I offer Yoga-Based Grief Therapy, an approach that supports not just your thoughts, but your body, breath and overall sense of wellbeing. Sessions are available online for clients across Bengaluru — including Koramangala, Indiranagar, Whitefield, HSR Layout, Jayanagar and every other neighbourhood — with no prior yoga experience needed.

Signs You May Need
Grief Support

Grief doesn’t always look like sadness. It can show up in ways that are easy to miss or dismiss — until they start affecting how you move through daily life. You may be experiencing grief if you notice:

  • Persistent numbness or a sense of disconnection from your emotions
  • Disrupted sleep — too little, too much or restless nights
  • Withdrawing from people or activities you used to enjoy
  • Guilt, self-blame or replaying “what if” scenarios
  • Difficulty concentrating or completing everyday tasks
  • A feeling that life no longer feels the same, even when nothing looks wrong from the outside
If any of this feels familiar, it may be time to talk to someone who understands grief in its many forms.

Types of Loss We Support

Grief is often associated only with death, but loss takes many shapes. Support at Grief & Beyond is available for:

  • The death of a loved one
  • Divorce or the end of a significant relationship
  • A serious illness or health diagnosis — your own or a loved one’s
  • Caregiving for an ageing parent or partner
  • Pet loss
  • Job loss or a major career transition
  • Empty nest syndrome or retirement
  • Any significant life transition that has left you feeling destabilised

Every grief journey is different and every one of these experiences deserves to be met with care, not minimised.

Our Yoga-Based Approach

Grief doesn’t live only in the mind, it lives in the body too. Tight shoulders, shallow breath, a heaviness in the chest: these are as much a part of grief as the emotional weight.

At Grief & Beyond, sessions integrate Yoga Therapy, gentle breath practices, mindful movement, reflective inquiry and Life Coaching to support the whole person — not just the thoughts, but the nervous system underneath them. This isn’t about “fixing” grief or rushing you to move on. It’s about building the capacity to live alongside loss with more ease, self-awareness and resilience.

You don’t need any prior yoga experience. Practices are gentle, personalised and adapted to your comfort and physical ability.

Stages of Grief

Grief researcher Elisabeth Kübler-Ross described five stages many people move through — denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. In practice, grief rarely moves in a straight line. You may cycle back through stages, skip some entirely or experience several at once. Understanding these stages isn’t about ticking boxes — it’s a way to recognise that what you’re feeling has a name and that it’s normal.

Why Choose Grief & Beyond

I'm Kripa Vaidyanathan, founder of Grief & Beyond

Grief entered my life without warning — a 3am call that someone close to my heart had been lost in a tragic accident and the ground beneath me gave way. It was yoga that helped me stay present through it, not by taking the pain away, but by creating space for stillness alongside the sorrow. That experience led me to train under David Kessler as a Grief Educator and in Grief Yoga under Paul Denniston.

Before this work, I spent over fifteen years in advertising and digital marketing, before a clear calling led me to Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM), where I trained and practiced as a Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist for over a decade. I’m also a certified Life Coach from Erickson International, which lets me integrate reflective coaching with the embodied wisdom of yoga therapy.

I understood grief professionally. But living it changed everything. Grief & Beyond was born from that journey — from what I learned through training and from what I lived. Sessions are confidential, compassionate and built around you.

Certifications: Yoga Teacher Training Programme (KYM, Chennai) · Healing Chants Teacher Training Programme (KYM, Chennai) · Yoga Therapist Training Programme (KYM, Chennai) · Yoga Chikitsaka / Yoga Therapist (Indian Yoga Association) · Grief Yoga Certified Teacher · Certified Grief Educator · Certified Life Coach (Erickson International)

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

There’s no fixed timeline — grief work is personal. Some clients find clarity in a few sessions; others prefer ongoing support over several months. We’ll discuss what feels right for you during your intro session.

Grief is a natural response to loss and tends to come in waves, often tied to reminders of what was lost. Depression is more persistent and pervasive. The two can overlap and part of our work together is understanding what you’re experiencing.

Yes. Grief isn’t limited to death. Divorce, breakups, job loss, illness and other major life transitions are all forms of loss and support is available for each of these.

Grief affects the body as much as the mind — through tension, disrupted breath and fatigue. Gentle yoga, breathwork and mindful movement help release some of that physical weight while creating space for emotional processing.
